Int'l Documents on Palestine

The objective of the database is to provide users with a portal to all kinds of documents relevant to the question of Palestine, the Arab-Israeli conflict and the legal status of Palestinians, from the Ottoman period until today.

The system comprises two components:
1. A Referential Database [search]

  • Documents can be retrieved according to the following search keys: Title, Source, Document Type, Subject, Historical Period, Year
  • Overview of the documents available in the database:
    • Documents issued in the framework of the Peace Process:
    • Documents issued by International Organizations:
      - The United Nations
      - The European Union
      - The League of Arab States
      - The Islamic Conference Organization
      - The African Union
      - The League of Nations
    • Judicial Decisions:
      - At the international level: a few decisions are related to the Palestinian question, issued by the International Court of Justice and its predecessor, the Permanent Court of International Justice. A limited number of arbitral awards have been released as well.
      - At the domestic level: decisions dealing with the status of the Palestinians are issued by national courts (either in Israel, the neighboring Arab countries or other States).
    • Legislation and other documents originating from Arab states related to the status of Palestinian refugees: nationality and labor regulations, agreements signed with the UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Work Agency) for the administration of the camps located on their territory.
    • Other specific relevant documents such as, for instance, declarations, speeches, joint communiqués, agreements between the PLO and Arab states. This category of documents, unlike the others, will be selective considering that their total number can be seen as unlimited.
    • Image maps attached to the above mentioned types of documents.
    • Documents are available either in full-text (MS Word format) or the facsimile image of the document (PDF).

2. Internet Links
- The United Nations documents: a comprehensive databank (UNISPAL - United Nations Information System on the Question of Palestine) has been established since 1993. Therefore, we propose to the user a direct link to this database.
- A listing of relevant Internet sites hosting information on the question of palestine: the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, classified by institutions, research centers, international organizations and national or international NGO's
